Selloff Hinted At Assembly
by thedepressedsoul inthe last talk at the assembly made an interesting statement, "we can show faith by following direction if we're asked to move to another kingdom hall for better use of dedicated christian funds".
this statement has everyone talking.
i spoke to multiple individuals and they heard the same thing at different assembly's.. i know they have been "evaluating" all kingdom halls the last year or two.

Major congregational quake in Southern California
by Hecce inthis notice is not official yet and it should be confidential until released thru the proper channels.
a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.

2 congregations get merged. the spare hall is sold off--and the money goes to the watchtower.
the dubs now sharing the hall soon realise they want their own again. so they start saving towards the building costs. but when the savings exceed $5000...the money has to be handed over to the watchtower as well. cunning plan.

if your wife is about to stab you in the back--you better destroy your no blood card or the wound could prove fatal.

Love for the Hate
by IronSharpensIron ini just wanted to share a perspective related to my experience with leaving the jw.
at this point, i have been df'd since i was 18. i'm 25, happily married with 2 fantastic children.
after being miserably at odds with my parents and extended family, i've come to some realizations as follows.. i struggled with the conditional nature of my parent's love- talking to me until it bothered their conscience, then cutting me off.

Which Kingdom Hall Should They Sell? How Does The Governing Body Decide?
by Brokeback Watchtower inwell what rule of thumb do you think these financial dim-wits dream up?
i think those not sending in their money to the org are some of the first properties to unload while you spare the higher payers for last.
you don't want to piss off the loyal contributers by making them miss meetings,, that's a no win situation so dump the free loaders as a negative asset and keep the more profitable ones.. and those who's loans the wt forgave, watch what happens if you're not send in those regular payments like before, and slack off by a significant amount.

Crisis of Conscience Raymond Franz
by Disassociated Lady 2 inthis book has been recommended to me a few times.
is it worth reading?.
how could i get a copy without paying the massive amount stated on amazon and ebay?

i think anyone buying vastly overpriced books off the internet are just feeding the greedy.
its not as if the money is going to the author--in this case !.
i bought a copy about 6 years ago--when i first got involved with this whole new world ( to me ) of ex-jw'ism. i had quit 40 + years ago. to be honest--i had to start reading about half way through. the first part seemed to contain a lot of extracts of watchtower paragraphs--and my eyes just glaze over at that. but when i got into it i had to finish it all.
after i had read it--i offered it to a distant relative who had also left the cult--but she--and her husband--also an ex-----declined to accept it. they didnt want any reminders of a life they had walked away from. ( i would imagine a lot of ex's are like that )
however i did pass it on to another member of this site who was having difficulty buying a copy.

Been witnessing today - first time in over 2 years!!
by The Searcher inand it felt wonderful!!.
i went into the city to where i knew there was a "cosmopolitan witnessing" trolley, because i wanted to ask a simple bible-based question.
the trolley was attended by an elder and a sister who was another elder's wife.

the cart witnessing work is a waste of time.
so is trying to reason with them.
unless you asked them what single thing would destroy their faith.

JW Carts Cause Thousands to Start Studying!!!
by Drifting Away ini would love to know the stats of how many hours were spent, standing by a cart, or sitting at a local town fair with jw table tent set up, compared to the number of bible studies started that led to baptism since the inception of the carts.
anyone have any idea?
if i had to guess i would say thousands of hours pent standing by a cart, and maybe less then 5 that actually got baptized.

Do carts need permits or can anyone start one?
just what i was thinking as i read this thread.
first pic shows a cart obstructing the pavement outside a supermarket / post office
that was last summer--not seen it there since.
next pic is a cart occupying a dirty doorway of a closed-down shop. doesnt it look uninviting ?

If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

listen to what they say---then ask them if they really believe it.

i wonder how many thousands of dubs have quit the cult since the carts were introduced.
